Weddings in Western Australia total over 30,000 a year. W.A. is a big place with lots to offer, so take a look at what various locations have to offer in the way of whimsical, wonderful wedding venues.
Perth Wedding Venues
Perth Town Hall
You can have your ceremony simple and straightforward right in the centre of the city at the Perth Town Hall. But you’ll find more to capture your fancy than just a civil justice!
This historical building done in Victorian gothic architectural style was renovated not long ago at a cost of $11 million. The undercroft is gracefully colonnaded, and the large hall accommodates 200 to 400 people. This is a place where you can accommodate every sophistication and have the wedding of your dreams.
You can find out more about the Perth Town Hall here.
What if you want something a little less traditional? Perth is, after all, Australia’s sunniest capital city. Why not consider an event at one of its 19 lovely beaches? You can try Scarborough Beach, a place with beautiful stretches of beach for the “I Dos” and plenty of cosmopolitan venues for the celebrating afterward.
Alternatively, you could enjoy your wedding at Rottnest Island around 20kms off the coast.
How about the Bell Tower, home of the sixteenth-century Swan Bells? You can say your vows looking right out at the waters of the Swan River.
The setting options will include anything from fully manicured grounds for an outdoor reception to an indoor elegant soiree. You can also check out the oldest bell located in Australia – featuring a giant bell weighing in at 459KG and that dates back to the Mid 1500’s!
You can’t go wrong with a place like the Western Australia Rowing Club, which hires out its River Room for weddings; there’s a wonderful balcony overlooking the river. Or consider Bell’s Function on the Barrack Street Jetty, which will accommodate up to 200 guests.
At King’s Park since spring of 2011 the Marlee Pavilion and Roe Gardens both are open for weddings. If you’d like to say your vows right under the skies and celebrate amongst all the beauty Nature has to offer, then consider one of these options in the park’s Place of Reflection.
Marlee Pavilion can accommodate your party up to 80. Roe Gardens features a granite memorial where couples join their lives amidst a setting of green lawns and sheltering trees. You can actually secure both places, for your ceremony and for a gathering of friends afterward, although no September weddings are taken because of the annual King’s Park Festival.
The city of Kalgoorlie advertises itself as Australia’s largest Outback city. The city proper offers a gazebo as well as Hammond Park’s wedding function room.
Why not say your vows outdoors at that location and then trek to a picturesque place like Albion’s, refurbished to its days of gold rush glory, for a traditional reception?
If you’re a bit north of Perth, consider visiting Geraldton for a truly unique wedding at one of four event locales promoted by the city. Geraldton offers for your consideration:
Bentwood Olive Grove
Why not take your guests to the Mediterranean right in your own backdoor at this working olive grove? There are over 2,600 olive trees and a stylized café amidst a garden setting that awaits your wedding guests’ pleasure. Your guests begin their meals with tarts or focaccia, and your imagination can choose the rest.
Lavender Valley Farm
A little north of Geraldton, where the folks at Lavender Valley create quality natural body products utilizing lavender oil as well as cocoa, jojoba oil, shea butter, and much more, you and your wedding guests can relax amidst the flat-topped hills of this scenic venue. Have up to 80 guests indoors—the outdoor locale accommodates an additional amount—and enjoy everything from nibbles and platters to full red-carpet service.
If the two of your appreciate environmental efficiency and the culture of the bush country, then Nukara is your place. Wedding packages offer everything from just your vows in The Barn, to full dancing under the stars, to a three-day festival celebrating your union. Remarkable food choices include everything from wood-smoked pizzas to organic natural foods.
Posh Events – Dalgleish Catering
This is a dual-vendor option listed. Dalgleish Catering saw its starts when its two owners created a wedding meal for a friend who was afraid to utilize anybody else, and the business grew from there. Its owners cater with attention to taste and style. You can hire them no matter what venue you utilize. You can also have your wedding at Posh Events, located at the Heritage Building in Geraldton, and Dalgleish will cater it.
Broome offers a full plate of options for your wedding celebration—it just depends what you fancy.
Many people choose to marry on the pristine shores of Cable Beach, where you’ll find some of the world’s finest, cleanest sands set against a backdrop of the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. With a four-wheel-drive adventure, you can take off after your vows into the Kimberly Outback for a full week’s honeymoon.
Camel Adventure Wedding
In this wedding fantasy-come-true, you and several dozen guests will ride to Cable Beach on camels, with the bride and groom transported in special conveyances atop these “ships of the desert.” You can conclude your wedding adventure at any of Broome’s establishments; the cable beach club rents a function room called the Sam Male Room.
Traditional Beach Wedding
While there’s typically nothing traditional about a beach wedding—especially at Broome!—you can bypass the camels and the 4WD vehicles and opt for the comfortable luxury of Eco Beach, which offers 15 km of perfect sandy beaches followed by comfortable accommodations and catering for up to 120 guests.
Church Wedding – Or Not
If you want to get married in a church, even if you don’t regularly attend one, the Broome Anglican Church, over 100 years old, offers packages. Or, if you want their celebrant to come to your site, you can arrange that also.
No Matter Where…
Your Western Australian wedding will represent the execution of your plans to start your life together as a married couple, with each of you detaching from the families of your youth to form your own, brand new family. The place where you celebrate it should speak to the happiness of your day, no matter how much of the traditionalist or adventurist you are.
And in Western Australia, just about anything is possible. Let the planning begin!
